Clothing Store – Dress It For Success

Depending on the type of clothes and fashion style that you are offering in your store, make no mistake about you, you SHOULD put some effort to make the store…at the very least, comfortable.

I have personally walked into stores that really turned me off. Clothes here, broken or uninstalled shelves there, haphazardly arranged blouses, skirts and pants all mixed up on the shelves and piles of documents lay (supposedly) hidden from the customers who walk in. Because the table or counter (depending on how you really want to look at it) had the back facing the door, it was hard not to see the piles of ‘stuff’ under it.

The said retail outlet could hang onto the defense that they were selling CLOTHES and it is hardly necessary for them to put too much money and effort into decorating the store (which they are NOT selling), customers’ impressions count when they walk in. Unless, of course, the clothing store is merely relying on the loyalty of returning customers, family and friends, there should be minimal effort to organize the store.

Of course, brick-and-mortar and out-dated clothing stores remain oblivious to the changing trend and the increased demand from customers, can continue to cater to the old school, there is no other option for other more competitive sectors of the fashion industry. If you want to stay in the game and perhaps, win it, you’ve got to wing it somehow.

Keep it organized, use proper shelving systems – When customers walk around in the outlet, they, generally speaking, to find blouses with blouses, t-shirts with t-shirts, dresses with dresses. It could potentially drive the customer wild with frustration if they found everything hanging on the same place when they are short of time. And do you know what an impatient and frustrated customer will do? Yes, my guess would be as good as yours…they would walk out and never walk in again, unless someone persuaded them too or the store was selling something that they cannot absolutely find anywhere else. Not even on eBay or on the internet.

Customers’ impression count – When we shop, we want to feel appreciated and respected. Paying close attention to what your store looks gives them that. That they cared enough to put that nice picture up on the wall. That they meant something to you that you have the store properly organized. It is always in something simple like that the customers find value in their shopping experience when purchasing something from a store, be it a clothing store or a DIY shop.

Find the right shelving system and let’s get your store exploding with returning customers.
